Jennie Elizabeth Mayo's Obituary
On Monday, September 26th, 2016, Jennie Elizabeth Mayo, 79, of Buffalo, NY, died peacefully in her home. She was born to the late Joseph and Doris (McGrath) Giolando on January 12th, 1937. Jennie, her parents and siblings Richard (Late), Betty (Late) and Arleen (Giolando) Fischer (Late) and Joseph resided in Amherst, NY during her childhood. She graduated from Amherst High School in 1954 and went on to earn an Associates Degree from Alfred State College in 1956. Jennie worked a few years as a secretary for the Erie County Clerk’s office before meeting the love of her life Robert J. Mayo. Robert and Jennie wed on June 11th, 1960 and lived happily together in the Western New York area for the next 48 years. During which time she was a homemaker until her children graduated high school, then returned to the workforce as a secretary first for Dr. Robert Reszel’s office then again for the Erie County DMV’s office until her retirement in 1993. Jennie and Robert spent their retirement enjoying many activities such as traveling, golfing, playing cards and bowling. Jennie and Robert eventually relocated to New Port Richey, Florida in 2008.
Jennie is survived by her beloved husband Robert J. Mayo, her children Susan (Richard) Balch, Robert (Maria) Mayo, Catherine (Gary) Milligan, her 8 grandchildren, Erica (Robert) Melton, Gina (Jake Wendt) Mayo, Daniel Balsom, Kelly Balsom, Anthony Mayo, Casey Balsom, Vincent Mayo, Kayla Milligan and her 2 great grandchildren Garrett Melton and Logan Wendt. Jennie lived a very fulfilling life with her family. She was smart and funny, and loved to play games! We will forever miss her wonderful smile and find comfort in knowing that she is resting peacefully in heaven. We love you Grandma.
