James N. Thompson's Obituary
Thompson, James N. Jr. of Hudson, passed away on April 12, 2013. Jim was born in Texas and raised on his grandparents' farm in Oklahoma. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Pauline; grandson, Gregory Mattson; great-granddaughter, Zaida Mattson; sister-in-law, Dell Thompson of Texas; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy Thompson; his parents; brothers, Leroy and Bill; and sister, Fern. Jim served in the Army in World War II. He also served at the National Security Agency during the Korean War. He was graduated from North Texas University, where he earned a bachelor's degree. He also earned a master's degree in education from Rowan University, in New Jersey. He was a member of St. Martin's Episcopal Church. Jim was a Master Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite in New Jersey. He was also a member of the American Legion, the VFW, the New Jersey Education Association, National Education Association, and President Emeritus of the PHI DELTA KAPPA fraternity. A memorial service will be held at St. Martin's Episcopal Church of Hudson, FL Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Martin's Episcopal Church, 15801 U.S. 19, Hudson, FL 34667, Phone: 727-863-8560.
