Irene Egav's Obituary
Irene Anker Egav, age 88 years, of Spring Hill, FL died on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at The Residence at Timber Pines, Spring Hill FL.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, September 29 1929, daughter of the late Nicholas and Hilda Thompson Anker, she had resided in Spring Hill since 1989, having formerly lived in Marine Park, Brooklyn, NY.
She spent 9 years as a novitiate in the Carmelite Monastery in Rhode Island. When she left she worked for many years on Wall Street for a number of brokerage firms which is where she met her beloved Henry. They married and lived in Brooklyn before retiring to Spring Hill Florida. They loved the Timber Pines community and made many new friends in addition to traveling around the world, golfing, skiing and sightseeing.
She was a communicant of St. Therese Parish, Spring Hill, FL and was a longtime member of the Sons of Norway as well as an active participant in the many clubs offered at Timber Pines.
Her devoted husband of forty seven years, Henry Egav, died in 2010. She was also pre-deceased by her brothers, Norman Anker, Kenneth Anker and a sister, Marion Angley and her nephew, Gary Angley.
Surviving are her loving nieces and nephews, Kathleen (Jim) Farrell of Raritan Township, NJ and Kristine (Roy) Kaufmann of Wharton, NJ, Kenneth (Shirley) Angley, of Pleasant Hill, CA, Timothy (Pat) Angley of Fort Bragg CA and many grand nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday June 22, 2018 at Grace memorial Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Theresa Church on Saturday June 23, 2018 at 11AM.
