Hyacinth Imogene Leachman's Obituary
A Life Well Loved – Hyacinth Imogene “Hyo” Leachman
July 10th, 1944 – June 14th, 2026
We, her family, share the news that our beloved wife, mom, and grandma, Hyacinth Imogene Leachman, left us peacefully in Spring Hill, Florida. Born in Kentish District, Jamaica, she filled 81 years with steady purpose and an open heart.
Hyacinth was the no-nonsense matriarch who, together with her husband Garnlett, built the tight-knit home we treasure today. Loyal, compassionate, generous, and kind—those four words guided every choice she made for us.
Many of our best memories circle around her kitchen, where her love for cooking kept everyone close. When we needed a break from the stove, she walked us out to the garden or out to the pool, teaching the grandchildren to swim one careful stroke at a time.
Hyacinth kept a phone near her ear because calls from friends and family never stopped coming; she listened patiently to every story. That steady presence reminded us that being loved sometimes looks like simply picking up the line.
She lives on in her husband Garnlett; her children Dwight (Tony), Charmain/ Junior Donna/ Kevin and Delith Timothy and her grandchildren Mieshia, Jayde, TJ, Daniel, Kristina, Felecia, Kevin, Jr., Patricia, Dave, Jason, Jasmin, Kadisha, Grajae, Shiloh, and Tahalia. Each of us carries a lesson she modeled—stand firm, love hard, and share your table.
Mom, we will keep cooking your favorite dishes, tending the garden rows you planted, and telling the swimming stories you started. Rest easy, knowing the family you raised will always hold one another close, just as you taught us.
By living her values aloud, Hyacinth turned ordinary moments into lessons on generosity and connection. The community she formed, stretching from Jamaica to Connecticut to Florida, now holds those lessons close.
Her family invites everyone who was touched by Hyacinth warmth to remember her whenever they share a good meal, tend a garden, or simply pick up the phone to check on someone. Her legacy of loyal, compassionate, and kind service continues each time we choose to do the same.
Service Details will be finalized shortly.
