Hugh Eamond Merrins' Obituary
Hugh Eamond Merrins, 82, of Port Richey, Florida passed away Sunday, March 2, 2014. He was born in Nassau County, New York to Daniel and Mary Merrins on January 27, 1932. He moved from Franklin Square, New York to Port Richey in 1975. He was a member of the Christian Faith, and a member of Grace Community Church in Spring Hill. During his career as a construction engineer, he worked on many important projects, including the World Trade Center and building the ramps for the George Washington Bridge. Hugh is survived by his daughters, Leslie Sage (Robert) of Hollywood, Florida and Carol Castro (Salvatore) of Elmont, New York; grandchildren, Mike Castro, Dan Castro, James Benton, Brittany Benton, and Allison Castro; and great-grandchild Laura Castro. He was predeceased by his loving wife of fifty-one years Carmela "Mel" Merrins in 2012 and daughter Anna Marie Merrins in 1993. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. A visitation will be held Saturday, March 8, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Grace Memorial Funeral Home in Hudson, Florida. A funeral service is being held Sunday, March 9, 2014 at 3:00 p.m., also at Grace Funeral Home.
