Hilda Teresa Lebron-Portela's Obituary
Hilda Teresa Lebron-Portela, 89, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2026, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.
She was the devoted wife of Ruben Antonio Lebron-Martinez, with whom she shared 69 wonderful years of marriage filled with love, dedication, and cherished memories.
Born on November 13, 1936, in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, Hilda was the beloved daughter of the late Juan Portela-Rivera and Esperanza Portela-Rodriguez. She pursued her education at a private all-women’s college in San Juan, where she earned an associate degree in secretarial sciences.
Following her marriage, Hilda dedicated her life to her family as a homemaker—a role she considered the most rewarding of all. Her home was a place of warmth, comfort, and love, and she took great pride in caring for her husband and children. The kitchen was the heart of her home, where she expressed her love through cooking and created countless memorable meals that her family will forever treasure.
Hilda’s greatest joy was her family. She found fulfillment in the simple yet meaningful moments—rising each morning to care for her loved ones, maintaining a welcoming home, and ensuring that family always came first.
She also enjoyed traveling and was fortunate to visit destinations such as Spain and Hawaii. In the early 2000s, she relocated to Florida, where she continued to build a life surrounded by those she loved most.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Ruben; her three children, Lourdes (John), Ruben (Lynne), and Eric; six grandchildren, Gabrielle, Juliette (Alan), Johnny, Ruben Robert, Caroline (Matt), and Peyton; and two great-grandchildren, Parker Noah and Henry Robert. She is also survived by her siblings, Ramon and Junior.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Hector.
Hilda will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her family, her generous heart, and the love she shared so abundantly. Her legacy will live on in the lives of all who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
