Bert was a “giver”. He never had much to say but always expressed himself with actions. He frequently took everyone out to dinner or for other events. He took the entire family on a cruise before he became ill. I loved and appreciated his quiet presence. During the Covid lockdown he and I were our own little “bubble” spending Sunday afternoons together. We would share a meal and watch a movie together. It helped us cope with the isolation of the lockdown. When I first moved to Florida, I stayed with Bert until I found and moved into my own place. He helped me more than I could ever express. I will miss his quiet presence. God Speed, Bert.
Bert was a true friend of mine. In the late 1980’s and early 1990’s we worked together at the Wisp Resort and often took day ski trips to Snowshoe and Timberline ski areas in West Virginia. We skied hard and fast all day. What a good ski buddy he was to me. I’ll always remember is humor and good nature. What a true friend he was. May God Bless his family.

As a young child (approx 10-12 yrs old) I never had my "own music", I listened to what Bert did. Sounds of The Who, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, CCR etc. echoed throughout our home and even an outdoor speaker. Out of all this music, The Rolling Stones became my favorite band and I proceeded to buy all of their albums. Flash forward to 2021 and guess who is playing in Tampa. Yes, I got to experience The Rolling Stones alongside Bert and my husband Jimmy. I love my husband but being with Bert at that moment was priceless. I remember standing there with him listening to the likes of Wild Horses and Start Me Up - I stopped, put my arm around him and both of us smiling so big and I said "we are at a Rolling Stones concert together". This is a cherished moment for me - I have tears in my eyes writing this.
I can’t say enough good things about Bert. He was a great friend who was intelligent beyond any education, kind and generous and most of all, a ton of fun. He may have slipped me a free lift ticket or two over the years. I am very sad to hear he has passed but grateful to be able to call him friend.
I knew Bert for 50 plus years and am proud to have called him my friend. He was the most even tempered and positive person I have ever known. I am a better person for having known him.
Every memory of him makes me either smile or laugh. He was a special person and friend.

My black eyed buddy😂. Always a good time with my friend Bert. He was a kind, gentle, peace maker in this crazy world. I will miss our tailgating and ski trips especially times like when the sofa couch swallowed you up and all we could do was laugh. Thanks for all the steaks and drinks throughout the years. You are at peace and in a much better world❤️. You will be missed.
