Harry "Pete" Cockcroft II's Obituary
Harry “Pete” Cockcroft II of Brooksville, Florida passed away on March 17, 2025 at the age of 81, following a brief illness while residing at the Brooksville Assisted Living Center.
Pete was born on March 6, 1944 in Illinois to Harry and Anne Cockcroft, who preceded him in death. He graduated from Athens Area High School in Athens, PA in 1963, before relocating to Sacramento, CA for several years. Pete worked at Good Year Tire and opted for early retirement before returning to the Northeast. He settled in Trumansburg, NY where he began a second career with the United States Postal Service before retiring again to pursue his love of travel. Pete explored the East Coast in his motor home and eventually made Brooksville, Florida, his permanent home.
An avid fisherman, Pete spent countless hours on Burgess Lake. He also had a passion for woodworking, crafting many cherished keepsakes for his family. Pete was known for his good nature and willingness to lend a hand whenever needed. He cherished family time and was always ready for a game of Mexican Train.
Pete is survived by his brother M. Terry Cockcroft and wife Connie, sister Colleen Williamson, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is also survived by his longtime companion Sandy Bettencourt and stepson David Griswold and wife Pam, and stepdaughter Christine Powell and many step grandchildren.
Per Pete's wishes, cremation will take place in Florida, and there will be no funeral service.
