Gary Mottola's Obituary
Gary Louis Mottola, 73, of Spring Hill, Florida, passed away peacefully at home on June 29, 2025. Born on October 11, 1951, in Providence, Rhode Island, Gary was the beloved son of the late Edward and Jeanne Mottola.
A proud graduate of Burrillville High School, Class of 1969, Gary was a talented athlete and a member of the Rhode Island State Senior Little League Championship team in 1966. His love for sports continued throughout his life, especially through his years of participation in bowling leagues.
Gary had a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life. He found peace in fishing, took pride in his garden, and loved playing guitar. His warm spirit and sense of humor made him a cherished friend and family member.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Debra Mottola, whom he married in April 1982. He was a loving father to his son, Michael Mottola, and daughters, Katie Day and Julie Mottola. Gary also leaves behind his sister, Jeanie Minot (Rene Minot), and brother, Albert Mottola (Roxanne Mottola). He was a proud grandfather to Lillyanna, Silas, and Lola Day, and will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Edward Mottola Jr.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Grace Memorial Gardens. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Spring Hill, followed by burial at Florida Hills Memorial Gardens where he will receive military honors for his service in the US Navy.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that remembrances be made to HPH Chapters Health Foundation in Gary’s memory.
Gary’s legacy of kindness, laughter, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
