Emanuel George Papaemanuel's Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Manny, a resilient and hardworking man who lived a full, vibrant 90 years. Born on August 29, 1934 and raised in Nisyros, Greece,
Manny journeyed to the United States at 14 years old, following his father who came a year earlier. While in high school, he starred in soccer, learned English, fell in love with his future wife, Barbara and graduated from high school; milestones that set the stage for his remarkable life.
Manny’s entrepreneurial spirit soon led him to raise in the ranks in the fur business in New York City, where he later established with his partner and best friend for life, James Contopoulos, their own mink coat business.
His journey from immigrant to successful businessman was a testament to his unwavering determination, work ethic, and faith in the possibilities life in America had to offer.
At the heart of his story was Barbara (deceased), who was his high school sweetheart, the love of his life, and together they cultivated a beautiful family, raising two children. His legacy is carried on in the lives of his family, who will always remember him as a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife Maria, children, Evelyn Ingrassia, George and Vicki Papaemanuel, grandson Nicolas, brother Mini, sister Sophie Tavantis, and many nieces and nephews.
While we mourn his passing, we also celebrate a life rich in achievement, resilience, and unwavering dedication to both his heritage and his family. His memory will continue to inspire everyone whose lives he touched.
Rest in peace Manoli, Manny, Dad, Theo and Papou. Your journey, spirit, and love will forever remain in our hearts.
