Elizabeth "Sissy" Mitchell's Obituary
Mary Elizabeth Mitchell
October 20, 1944 - November 11, 2024
Mary Elizabeth "Sissy" Mitchell passed peacefully in her sleep November 11, 2024, and has
rejoined her beloved family, her father, Dickey Boyd Mitchell, her mother, Mary Kate Pease, her
stepfather, Randall Jones and her sister, Diana Mitchell Clarke. She has left behind her
daughter, Katherine Parsons, granddaughter, Elizabeth Baker, grandson Christopher Baker and
great-grandson Gabriel Baker.
Sissy was a native of Jacksonville Florida and attended Alfred I. Dupont High School and
Stratford Women's College in Danville Virginia.
Sissy had a great love of animals, especially wild ones, whom she cared for as if they were her
own. She was often seen feeding and loving on them in her Mandarin neighborhood. She
contributed to many charities favoring those that cared for children and animals and was an avid
supporter of the Catholic Church and many of their charitable organizations. She was always
one to offer help to those in need and gave with a loving, kind and generous heart. Sissy loved
to sing, dance and paint. For many years she was actively creative and artistic with a great eye
for fashion and interior decorating. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please pay it forward as she would
have done and contribute to a local charity of your choice, I'm sure she would hope that you
would help the animals too.
