Elias J. Manolis' Obituary
Elias John Manolis was born in Manganiti, Ikaria, Greece on March 10, 1922 to John and Anastasia Manolis, and passed away on April 1, 2012. He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Bessie and his brothers and sisters, George, Eftehia, Kleanthi, Sophia and Andreas. He served in the Merchant Marines during WWII and was held captive under the German occupation. He is survived by sons and daughter, John, Alexander and Anastasia Manolis Feola. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Michael and Mathew Manolis, Stephanie and Christopher Feola and his poodle"Koukla".Elias came to the United States and settled in Detroit, Michigan in 1952 where he worked as an industrial painter in Detroit, Chicago and Gary, Indiana. He retired in the 1970's and relocated to Dunedin, Florida in 1978 and in 1985 he moved to Spring Hill.He was a member of the Spanos Areti Chapter while residing in Detroit and then transferred to the Helios Chapter in Clearwater, Florida.In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Helios Chapter #19 Building Fund, PO Box 3474 Clearwater, FL 33767.May he rest in peace and his memory be eternal.
