Dennis Lagares' Obituary
Dennis Anthony Lagares, 64, passed away on January 20, 2026, at Tampa General Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Sherry Lagares, with whom he shared 42 wonderful years of marriage.
Born on June 17, 1961, in New York, NY, Dennis moved to Florida in 1972. It was in Florida that he met Sherry, the love of his life, and they married in 1983, beginning a beautiful journey centered on devotion, hard work, and family.
Dennis was a man who loved the outdoors—he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and simply being surrounded by nature and spending time with his sons. He had an unmatched passion for working and took great pride in his career as an operating engineer, spending over 30 years with APAC. In more recent years, he enjoyed helping his son with electrical work at his company Volts Electric, always happy to lend his skills and spend time with his family.
Above all, Dennis loved his family deeply. His greatest joy—and life’s biggest goal—was providing for them. He especially cherished time with his grandchildren, creating memories filled with laughter and love.
Those who knew Dennis would describe him as loving, friendly, and someone who never met a stranger. He made friends with everyone he encountered. Though he could be fiery at times, his intentions were always good and his heart always in the right place. A gifted handyman, Dennis could fix just about anything, and he brought a smile to those around him. He was incredibly proud of his sons and all they accomplished.
Dennis is survived by his devoted wife, Sherry Lagares; his sons: Dennis Lagares Jr. (Jennifer), David Lagares (Kody), Dan Lagares (Leah), and Wesley Keesler (Alyce); and his beloved grandchildren: Kyle, Nicole, Trent, Peyton, Trenton, Carson, Brecken, Blakely, Gabby, Annabelle, Peyton, and Charlotte. He is also survived by one niece and five nephews; his aunt, Vickie Bryant (Dave); and many cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Barbara Lagares; his brother, Frank Lagares Jr.; and his sister‑in‑law, Vicky.
Dennis will be remembered for his love, his generosity, his humor, and the profound impact he made on the lives of those fortunate enough to know him.
