Dawn Sloan Verosic's Obituary
Dawn Sloan Verosic, age 79, of Hudson, Florida, passed away on July 17, 2026. She was a beautiful soul, inside and out, whose creative spirit and deep faith touched everyone she met.
Born on November 17, 1946, in Riverdale, New Jersey, to the late George and Laura Sloan, Dawn graduated from Butler High School in 1964, where she proudly shared her vibrant spirit as a majorette. In her 20s, she worked for Braniff Airlines in New York City before moving to Hawaii. It was there, on a bus in Pearl Harbor in 1968, that she met the love of her life, Ron Verosic. The two were married on July 12, 1970, at St. Mary’s Church in New Jersey, celebrating 56 beautiful years of marriage just days before her passing.
The couple began their family in Connecticut, living in Cromwell, where Dawn sold real estate, and later in Hartford, where she welcomed her first two children (Eric and Shane). In 1984, they moved to Florida, where Dawn blessed her community as the secretary for Faith United Methodist Church, welcomed her third child (Star), and lived the remainder of her life.
Dawn was a talented artist and author, publishing three cherished books: Freedom Come Home, How the Kitten Found His Purr, and The Secret of the Legend of Pele. Above all her achievements, Dawn took immense pride in her family. Watching her babies grow was her greatest joy, and she was fiercely proud of each of them. Guided by her profound faith in Jesus, she lived a life full of love, grace, and devotion.
Dawn was preceded in death by her parents, George and Laura Sloan, and her beloved son, Shane Verosic. She is survived by her devoted husband, Ron; her loving brothers, Scott and Todd Sloan; her treasured children, Eric and his wife Melonie, and Star and her fiancé John. She also leaves behind her six beautiful grandchildren, Sky, Kylie, Julian, Logan, Brody, and Lucas, who brought endless joy to her life.
Funeral service details: Friday, July 24, 2026, starting at 10:30am to 11am will be the viewing and the service will be from 11am 12pm at Grace Memorial Gardens in Hudson, Florida. Following the service, Dawn will be laid to rest at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida at 130pm
