David J Strawbridge's Obituary
David J. Strawbridge, “Davey” 78, born on June 25, 1945, in Evansville, Indiana the son of Robert and Martha Strawbridge peacefully passed away in the comforts of his home on September 26, 2023, from a seventeen-month battle with brain cancer.
David was Valedictorian from Howe Military Academy. He studied Biology at Earlham College while working at Reid Memorial Hospital as a surgical scrub technician. Later Dave completed dental school at the University of Michigan. He continued on to opening his dental practice setting in Charlevoix, Michigan for 35 years.
Dave had a passion for racing sailboats, scuba diving, fishing and fly fishing. He would enjoy taking friends and family along some of these adventures and when the grandchildren came along, he would gently teach them the joys of fishing, becoming a new tradition in his amazing life.
He also was an avid supporter of the Wounded Warriors, he was an active member in his Charlevoix community from Chamber of Commerce, Lions Club, Yacht Club and being the voice of Rayder Basketball Radio for several years. His love for the Michigan Wolverines will always be remembered and continue on with his family.
After retirement, David and his wife Deb moved to St. James City, Pine Island, Florida. He continued dentistry in the summer, traveling back to Michigan and working with the My Community Dental Centers, which offers dental services to low-income families.
David is forever remembered by his loving wife Deb, of 23 years, children Darren and Anne Strawbridge, Amie Haag, and Steven (Jayda) Haag. Grandchildren, Milo, Griffin, and Ruby. He is also survived by brothers Robert Strawbridge and Terry (Stephanie) Strawbridge, Michael (Nancy) Foerster, James Foerster, Linda (Jim) Plomer, Chuck (Mary) Foerster, Mother-in-Law Irene Foerster and several beloved nieces and nephews.
Memorial will be held in St. James City Pine Island Florida, November 5, 2023
Another memorial service will be held next Summer on June 21, 2024 at the First Congregational Church in Charlevoix, Michigan with Pastor Chuck Foerster performing the service.
