David Lee Arnold's Obituary
David Lee Arnold, 68, of Hudson, Florida (formerly of Conyers, GA), passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, due to injuries sustained in an auto accident. David was born in Atlanta, Georgia on April 10, 1956, to the late Jack Arnold and Patsy C. (Arnold) Mayfield. He was a graduate of Southwest DeKalb High School. He was formerly married to Brenda Thompson of Conyers, GA and Kathy Noblin of Palm Bay, FL.
As a child, he had a curiosity of how things worked and learned quickly about electricity as well as auto mechanics. He learned a great deal from his grandfather, Clyde Clackum, and successfully wired his first house at the age of 16. David was a licensed electrician by trade and worked as an electrical inspector for Gwinnett County for many years. Following a fulfilling career in electrical inspections, he became self-employed and worked as an electrical contractor for new builds, largely in Gwinnett County, and would also work on custom builds for a handful of home builders. He was self-employed for several years, before returning to the inspection office, this time in DeKalb County. In recent years David retired and moved to Florida, a place where he longed to live his whole life.
David was a brilliant soul that had a talent for most any trade and could fix just about anything. He served many in his communities by helping with all types of home repair issues, mowing lawns for elderly neighbors, and working to repair automobiles. David assisted many people over the years with home projects and his handprint can be seen in many homes around Georgia and Florida. Many friends and relatives would frequently call him about how to fix various home and automotive issues, and he would often be able to help resolve the problem in minutes even over the phone.
David was a member of Calvary Chapel Worship Center, in New Port Richie, FL. He enjoyed attending
worship and serving on the media team as needed. His hobbies included piddling in his workshop, tinkering on cars, miscellaneous projects around his home, tending to his beloved cats, and just enjoying the slower pace of retired life. He will be remembered as a witty individual with a dry sense of humor. David was always making others laugh with his jokes and his witty ways of saying things that were affectionally called David-isms. While we will miss him, we are comforted knowing he has been reunited with his loved ones who have gone before and knowing we will see him again.
David is survived by his son, Nicholas (Mandy) Arnold of Roswell, GA, daughter, Jessica (Thomas) Côté of Macon, GA, grandsons Ryan and John Luke Arnold and John Thomas Côté, and granddaughter Gracie Lee Côté, close friends Brian Pfister and Michael Nunnally, and his 3 cats. He was predeceased by his father and mother, and grandparents.
There will be a visitation in Conyers, GA to celebrate David’s life followed by a graveside service at Resthaven Cemetery in Decatur, GA, as well as a memorial service in Treasure Island, FL all at a later date. These arrangements will be announced by the family as they become available.
