Charles Richter's Obituary
Charles F. Richter, of Hudson, FL age 93, died Saturday morning, September 7, 2019 surrounded by his family. Born October 20, 1925, in Chicago, IL, he was the son of the late Frances H. (Kearns) and Charles F. Richter. Brother to the late Eleanor Richter.
Charles was respected member of the King of Kings Lutheran Church where he and his late spouse, Mickey Richter, spent many years volunteering for programs and services where they felt they were needed. He enjoyed bowling on the Church Bowling league.
His service to his country is memorable. He saw action in the Philippines, Okinawa, Saipan, Iwo Jima, Tokyo, and Manilla. He said that entering Tokyo Bay after the Japanese surrendered is an experience that he would never forget. His medals include the American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, and the WWII Victory Medal.
Charles worked for Amoco Oil for 33 years. He started as a truck driver and retired as a Regional Distribution Manager.
He married Maxine (Mickey) in 1947. They were married one month shy of 70 years. He is survived by his children, Charles Richter, Jr., Christine Richter-Harvey, Charlene Deitz, son-in-law Charles Deitz and Grandchildren, Leah Donnell, Charles Deitz II, Kevin Deitz, and Chad Harvey, Mark Harvey, andPatrick Harvey. Great Grandchildren: Kathleen, Amelia, Philip, Grant, Alaura, Charles III, and Sean, Elise, Finnegan, Kaya, Ezra, and Alexander. Great Great Child: Kaycie.
A Funeral Service will be held Monday, September 16th, 2019 - 1:00 PM King of Kings Lutheran Church - Port Richey
