Mrs Carol Ann Hlad's Obituary
Mrs. Carol Ann Hlad, 75, of Tampa passed away on June 10, 2021. She was born on February 15, 1946, to Andrew and Mary Huzinec in Erie, Pennsylvania. She attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania where she received her bachelors of science in education and then California University of Pennsylvania for her masters in education. She was also a member of the sorority Alpha Delta Pi. She was an educator for 43 years. She first taught in Pittsburgh, then spent the last 31 years in Pasco County Schools. In 2002, she was recognized as the Pasco County Teacher of the Year and also Career/Technical Teacher of the Year for the State of Florida. It is estimated that she taught more than 30,000 students over the course of her career. Many students even called her ‘mom’. She was proud of the legacy that she leaves behind and all the lives she touched. After retiring, she enjoyed reading and playing with her grandkids. She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years Greg; brother Ronald Huzinec, sisters Patricia Martin, Donna Smoley, and Beverly Graham all of Erie, Pennsylvania; daughter Kristen Wilkerson and her husband Darren; grandchildren Audrey (age 7), Charlotte (age 5), and Madelyn (age 18 months). She is dearly loved and will be deeply missed.
