Billy G. "Hambone" Henderson's Obituary
Billy G. Henderson "Hambone": Born in Milton, West Va. Feb. 13, 1926. To Gertrude O. Henderson, he died peacefully at home surrounded by his children, Kendall Lilburn, Georgia) Paul (Hudson, Florida) and Anna (Holiday, Florida) November 15, 2017. He served in the US Navy during WW II and was honorably discharged in 1944. Billy was a member of the Milton Volunteer Fire Department. He moved to Dayton, Ohio where he met and married his wife of 48 years Mary Lou Henderson later they moved to Clearwater Beach, FL in 1956 and he was a member of American Legion Post #208. He worked at several car dealerships in the area in his chosen career of auto repair, until relocating to the coastal community of Aripeka, FL in 1958, where he started Aripeka Garage running his own automotive repair, wrecker service and Spur service station. A friend to all and a fair deal his business survived until he sold the property in 2003. A member of Aripeka Baptist Church, and the Aripeka Community Club, even serving as the Aripeka town judge during the town's bicentennial celebrations. Billy supported local law enforcement and was just awarded his 45th year membership with the Florida Sheriff Association. An avid CB radio enthusiast he went by the handle Hambone and answered Chanel 28 roll call daily. He made friends throughout the world from his favorite chair, drinking his morning coffee. He is survived by his children and grandchildren; Jared (Rachel), Owen (Melaney), and Adele all of Georgia and extended family Rhiannon and Bailey of Lakeland, FL. Visitation will be held at Grace Memorial Gardens on Sunday November 19, 2017 from 6-8 pm and the funeral service to be held on Monday November 20, 2017 at 11 am. With internment at Aripeka cemetery, Hunters Lake, FL. A reception will follow at Grace Memorial Gardens Chapel. In lieu of flowers donation may be made to the Humane Society of Pasco County, Inc. http://www.humanesocietyofpasco.org/donations/ in memory of Billy.
