Betty Marilyn Newman's Obituary
Betty Marilyn Gramlich Newman, 99 of Port Richey, Florida passed away peacefully on December 17, 2022 at her residence.
She was born in Chicago, Illinois on October 9, 1923, the daughter of the late Harry Louis Gramlich and Myrtle Elizabeth Johnson Gramlich. Betty moved to Florida from Oak Lawn, Illinois in 1982. She was a member of King of Kings Lutheran Church in Port Richey, where she was active on many committees. Betty especially enjoyed working weekly in the food bank. She had unwavering faith, was full of charm and was a strong willed, determined lady. She loved playing card games, golfing and bowling. She was able to be competitive well into her 90’s.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband: Theodore Robert Newman of 61 years; her sister and best friend: Shirley Mae Gramlich Karas and her great granddaughter: Aaliyah.
Survivors include her sister: Nancy (Lou Gramlich) Powell of Medford, Oregon; her daughter: Susan Elizabeth Hitzeroth, of the home who took wonderful care of her in her later years; her sons: Theodore William (Laura) Newman of Hartsville, South Carolina; and Richard Curtis (Pam) Newman of Rockford, Illinois; her 5 grandchildren and her 15 great-grandchildren. She was greatly interested in the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved watching them grow and change.
Funeral Service will be at 10:30 am Thursday, December 29, 2022 at King of Kings Lutheran Church in Port Richey, Florida with burial to follow at 2:00 pm in Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida. Visitation will be Thursday from 9:30 am until funeral hour at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the King of Kings Lutheran Church in Port Richey, Gulfside Hospice or a charity of one’s choice.
