Barbara Jean Fricano's Obituary
FRICANO, Barbara Jean 74, of Hudson, passed away April 20, 2019. Jeanne grew up in Scranton, Pennsylvania before moving to New York City at 17. It was there in 1967 that she met and secretly eloped the love of her life, Salvatore Fricano. After keeping their elopement a secret for two years, the couple had a large church wedding in Brooklyn in 1969 and together they raised three sons: Salvatore, Richard, and Joseph.
Jeanne worked as a word processor for Hawkins Delafield and Wood Law Firm in New York and was considered a personal asset to many of the attorneys at the firm thanks to her computer proficiency and hard work ethic.
One of Jeanne’s great passions in life was her artwork, specifically ceramics. She and Salvatore owned a ceramics shop in Brooklyn where they worked hand in hand as a team. Salvatore would pour the molds and Jeanie would paint and fire the pieces. In addition to her ceramics, she also enjoyed many other mediums including crocheting, metal embossing, and china painting.
Jeanne loved children and had a special relationship with many of the neighborhood kids. She was known to everyone as “Aunt Jeanne” and was famous for her cooking and entertaining, her extensive recipe book collection, and her annual Christmas Eve dinner.
She is survived by her loving husband, Salvatore John Fricano; sons Salvatore Joseph, Richard Anthony, and Joseph Bart Fricano; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
