Gilligan, Anita's Obituary
Anita R. Gilligan, 96, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2025, at her residence in Hudson, Florida. She was the beloved widow of Raymond “Ray” Gilligan.
Born on October 5, 1928, in New York, NY, Anita was the daughter of the late Andrew Scafati and Amela Scafati. She was a devoted member of St. Martin’s Episcopal Church in Hudson until its closure.
Anita found joy in simple pleasures—watching comedy and music channels that showcased scenic views from around the world, staying informed through the news, and spending quiet moments reading and writing poetry. She will be remembered for her kindness, caring nature, good heart, and occasional feistiness that brought smiles to those around her.
She is survived by her niece, Gail; her nephew, Bill; her devoted caregiver, Rose; and her best friend, Joyce. She was predeceased by her sister, Evelyn, and her dear friend, Pat.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dementia Society of America, honoring Anita’s memory and supporting a cause close to her heart..
