Angelo D'Ambrosio's Obituary
Angelo D’Ambrosio was born on August 31, 1920 in Capurciano, Abruzzi, Italy. The son of David and Maria D’Ambrosio, he was the oldest of three children. He had a brother Italio, and a sister Mary, who were also born in Italy. The family decided to travel to America and arrived in NY, NY on May 12, 1930. They settled in the Bronx.
As a young man in the Bronx, Angelo was a semi-pro boxer, and he recently illustrated some of his moves to 2 of his nephews and a niece. Angelo met his wife, Angelina Baldoni in the Bronx, where their families lived in the same building. They married on August 3l, 1941, on Angelo’s 21st birthday, and were married for 74 years.
He served in the US Army in the 63rd Infantry Division from 1943 thru 1944. He was stationed at Camp Van Dorn, Mississippi during this period. After leaving the service, he started his own furniture finishing company, which was known as D’Angelo’s Furniture Company and was located in Manhattan.
Angelo and Angie left the Bronx and moved to Massapequa, Long Island, NY to enjoy a peaceful life in the suburbs. They lived there for many years surrounded by friends and family.
However, after enduring the cold winters for so many years, they decided to move to Florida in the early 70’s. They settled in Hudson, Florida, along with Angelina’s mother, to begin this new life.
They soon became members of the Faith Baptist Church, and thus began their journey of living to honor and serve The Lord. This new experience brought them closer to each other as a couple. Angelo was a prominent member of the church, and served as a treasurer there, along with other duties. He often led the services in song, as he was blessed with a beautiful voice. He also devoted his life to praising the lord and continuing to encourage new members to join the congregation.
Angelo is survived by Italio’s children, Susan, Ronald and Robert; and Mary’s children, Cathy Marie and Nicholas. He also had a special bond with Angelina’s family, especially Vic Romano and his wife, Debra, Chip Baldoni, Lauren Baldoni McConnell, Eleanor Romano, Frank Romano, and John Angeli. He was a remarkable man, who will remain Forever In Our Hearts!
