Ancil J. Smith's Obituary
Ancil J. Smith, 93, of Port Richey, Florida passed away Thursday, January 2, 2014. He was born on March 3, 1920 to James and Flora Smith in Williamsburg, Kentucky. He moved to the Port Richey and Hudson in the mid-1980s from Cincinnati, Ohio. He is a member of the Christian Faith. Ancil was a World War II veteran, having served in the United States Army Air Corps. He served our nation in the invasion of Normandy, France. His main duty in the Air Corps was pulling and servicing planes during the war. He began working at the age of twelve, helping his mother raise his six brothers. He was a truck driver during the time that Interstate 75 was a dirt road. He was also an expert Heating and Air Conditioning technician for the National Heating and Air Conditioning Company. Ancil will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to have known him. He is survived by his fiance Amy Dwyer; son Jerome Nathaniel Smith (Brenda); daughter Gail Schwoerer; brothers, Howard (Janet) and Dana (Donna); four grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brothers: Carl, Eugene "Grape", Herb, and Clifton. A visitation will be held Thursday, January 9, 2014 from 6:00- 8:00 p.m. at Grace Memorial Funeral Home in Hudson. A funeral service will be held Friday, January 10, 2014 at 10:00 a.m., also at Grace Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Florida National Cemetery.
