Alfred Milton Skelton's Obituary
Alfred Milton Skelton, 85, Long time resident of Lawrence County, Ohio passed away Sunday, November 23, 2014 in New Port Richey, Florida. Alfred was born May 8, 1929 in Salt Sulpher Springs, West Virginia to John Milton Skelton and Lula Mae Steele.
Alfred was an America Veteran. He served as an MP in the US Army during WWII.
Alfred loved Music! He was a member of the Skelton Trio along with his brother Harlan and sister Ruth. Their back up guitarist at that time was Bobby Bare Sr., who became a well known American country music singer.
He was an over the road truck driver, logging over 4 million miles before his retirement in February 2012. He was a Lifetime member of OOIDA (Owner-Operator Independent Driver Association).
Alfred was a 32nd degree Mason with The Grand Lodge of F. & A.M of Ohio, Lawrence Lodge No. 198, The Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of Ohio, Lagrange Chapter 68 and Grand Council Royal & Select Masons of Ohio, Ohio Council 92.
He was preceded in death by brothers James K. Skelton & Howard R. Skelton, sister Ruth A. Skelton-Pence, 1st wife Emma Louise Harrison-Skelton and son John E. Skelton.
Survived by: Brothers & Sisters-in-law; Harlan L. & Norma J. Skelton of OH, Virginia M. Skelton of MO, John L. & Blanche Skelton of GA. 2nd wife Barbara J. Burgher-Skelton of OH. Daughters & Sons-in-law; Jeff H. & Sandy K. (Skelton) Livingston of FL, Micah & Michelle L. (Skelton) Stiles of OH. Sons & Daughters-in-law; James A. (Jim) Skelton of FL, Orville R. (Bud) & Ann (Milly) Skelton of AZ, Randall D. (Randy) & Teena M. Skelton of OH, and Kevin L. & Elizabeth R. Skelton of MO. 20 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews that he dearly loved.
Funeral service will be 11:00 am Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at Grace Memorial Funeral Home with one hour of visitation prior to the service. Burial will be 2:00 pm at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
