Fred Ryder was a helping hand in all that his loving and sincere wife did during their lives on earth in their mission trips around the world. He helped to paint the orphanage building in Suriname South America and also the church building. He taught me personally about paint and paint brushes. He was a nice friend and spoke always about Suriname. He helped the orphanage to get a stainless steel sink shipped all the way from Miami Florida. Something I thought was impossible, he and his wife made possible and true. I sincerely missed them and his jokes. Their memories lives on in the orphanage and churches in Suriname South America but especially in my own heart.
I missed them so much but will unite with them when our Lord Jesus calls us home.

My name is Mackenzie, Fredrick Austin Ryder Jr. is my Great Papa. I remember when I would go to his house he would show me all of his photo albums and share stories about his missionary trips with my Great Grandma (Sarah Ryder) to different places around the world. Every Thanksgiving we would sit next to each other at the dinner table and he would always make crazy faces to be funny when someone would try and take our picture. I remember two years ago we went strawberry picking and he picked strawberry with us for hours. I will cherish every moment I got to spend with him and make sure my little brother hears all the stories he told me and he will never be forgotten.

Fred and I shared a wonderful friendship at Shady Hills Elementary. Many times I would arrive in my classroom and Fred would have repaired or improved something before I had even mentioned it. Once when my class was reading about trains, I walked into my room to see that he had set up an entire model train for the children to see. At the end of several school years I would collect slightly used classroom supplies and Fred and his wife would send them overseas to help needy children. He was a good and honest man and he will be missed by many.

Karen, I only had the opportunity to meet your Dad twice however he was very kind to me in those encounters. My heart goes out to you and your family for your loss.
