Richard D. "Dick" Duffy, 82, of Port Richey, FL died peacefully on Friday, April 8, 2022 with his wife at his side. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church with Revs. Robert C. Steinke and Thomas Wendt and Steve Denney, Elder officiating. Online obituary at www. gracefuneralhomehudson.com Richard Dean Duffy was born on June 26, 1939 in Oelwein, IA, the son of Robert Duffy and Edith (Sankey) Duffy. He received his education at Immaculate Conception School in Fairbank, and Oran School in the graduating class of 1958. Dick enlisted in June of 1957 and entered active October of 1958. He retired as a Master Chief Machinist Mate, December 1988. The family retired to Bald Knob, AR where he fulfilled a childhood dream of driving 18-wheelers. He quit after Ida was called to active duty for Desert Storm and was sent to Okinawa, JA for the duration. He enjoyed farming, gardening, woodworking and caregiving for his father-in-law. Dick and Ida enjoyed traveling, visiting all 48 states and attending ships' reunions and other military organization functions. They enjoyed participating in many organizations such as American Legion, VFW, DAV, AMVETS, and the Finnish-American Club of New Port Richey, FL. Dick is survived by his wife of 42 years: Ida Duffy of Port Richey, FL; one son: Richard Dywayne (Alia) Duffy of San Jose, CA, two step-daughters, Bobbi (Carl) Carpenter of Searcy, Arkansas, Becky King of Bald Knob, Arkansas; four grandchildren; Christina (Roger) Criss of Russellville, AR, David King of Bald Knob, AR, Shayla (Joshua) Gay and Skylar (Kyle) Hilton of Searcy, AR nine great-grandchildren; Elizabeth, Ashleigh, Caleb, Brandon, Christian, Carly Joe, Elaina, Alyssa and Kyleigh Rose. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Ron and Larry, aunts and uncles.
